Life Lesson #2: Maturity Matters in a Partner

When asked what qualities we look for in another person, I don't think I've ever heard anyone answer with the word "Mature."

I guess people assume that maturity comes with age. I don't think that's necessarily true. I have a 30 something year old Aunt who is the least mature person I know. I also have a 17 year old brother who is wise beyond his years and with some things too mature for his own good. And then there's me. There are times when I act like a worldly adult, and there are times when I act like an immature three year old.

In addition to a sense of humour, relative good looks and a gentle personality -- I want to be with someone who is Mature.

Like my friend.. we'll call her CS. Her boyfriend, D, is 27. And he is one of the most mature people I know. He and I are not necessarily friends, but I always get a hug and a hello along with any relevant questions about my life. He cares about what happens to me because CS cares about what happens to me. That's not to say he isn't silly or fun at times. Because he's one of the funniest people I've ever met.

I don't want to be saddled with an immature partner for the rest of my life -- maturity matters in a partner.
